Ashmin Skyy ~ Being Me!

When Tiff and I went to Timber Creek, it honestly made me want to fit in as a student. My awesome voice got me a chance to sing the national anthem for the Timber Creek volleyball team! And there is where I learned that I have a love for volleyball! Not to play… JEESH NO! But to watch is really fun! Not to mention the team is so amazing. Seriously, I had no idea they were that good. And they’re pretty funny. THEY ALSO WON! YAY! I also went to they’re football game Timber Creek versus Winter Springs… I don’t necessarily understand football but it was a fun night! You’ve probably already got that I’m not a sporty girl. Oh well…

So after that day, Me and the gang (Jesse, D, Joe, Tiffany and a little bit of Yogi) we’re just shooting video content all day almost everyday for the past week. Visited a bit of Winter Springs High and sung for the ever so flexible cheer team, then shot some more video content. A day after that MOMMY CAME BACK! ♥ And I got a day off. Then yesterday (10-23-10) we ALL went to the American Cancer Society and Making Strides against Breast Cancer Event! IT WAS AMAZING!

I headed off to my corner to do my street performance in front of Hue restaurant in downtown Orlando when all the walkers/runners would walk/run by and hear me… that made my whole day! They were cheering for me and it left me beaming… so today (10-24-10) “the gang” are going to shoot me in my natural habitat. Jeesh! I sound like the animal planet XD. So yes, we are cleaning like we are mad… talk to you guys later and thank you SOOO MUCH for following!

Since the last time I’ve written a blog (which was quite some time ago) a lot has happened. My mom had to go back to California to help my cousin, who is an actress, out with what she needs to do. And I have to give her some credit on my blog because she just booked a movie and a extra role in a feature film AND video game commercial which she is getting paid to learn how to play! SO GOOOO JASMINE! I LOVE YOU! Anyway, during that time, I was visiting schools, shooting videos, and performing all over. And along the way, I met some pretty awesome people! So let’s start off with the schools…

We (Tiffy and I) went to go visit Timber Creek High School the day I’d written my last blog. At first I was kinda nervous and almost embarrassed of what they might think of me. Add that to the fact I haven’t been to a public school in about 5 years. “This is Ashmin  and she’s an up and coming pop star!” is the way Tiffany had introduced me the whole day to the school, and I understood why the students gave disbelieving looks. LOL! I mean, it’s not every day you hear that. Heck, I don’t think they’ve EVER heard that before! But I was extremely glad that my voice sounded surer than I felt. Because it convinced them and myself that I AM an up and coming pop star! I don’t have doubts in my talent or my confidence, but there are some things I still need to learn, and recognizing myself as different from everyone else is one of them. But not THAT different! I’ve heard a lot of people ask who I am, and honestly, sometimes, I don’t know how to answer that! I’ve done a lot of research (no, not on the internet) about who Ashmin Skyy is….and here’s what I’ve found so far…

Ashmin as a musician:

I’m creative. I love to put my ideas on the table — whether they’re crazy or not. I’m a dreamer who loves to envision myself performing on stage everywhere. I also realize that I’m a completely different person in a vocal booth; I’m goofy and crazy and have absolutely no inhibitions at all. I’M ME! But as soon as I step out, I’m still me, just little more reserved, because it’s time to go to work. Which is weird because you would think that in the booth it’s work-time, but I’m a little backwards in Ashmin world. J

Ashmin as a friend:

I’m very loyal and I search for quality in my friendships. I don’t like to see the people I love hurt or down and as a friend I focus on helping them. I also don’t have friends just to have them, there has to be a reason why we click and why we trust each other so much, not just because we know each other. That does not really define a friend to me.

Ashmin as a person:

Well, first of all, the one thing I love about myself is I rarely get angry. I’ve really mastered staying positive all the time. I don’t ever remember having a bad day. I don’t really tolerate the superficial so whenever you’re around me, it’s very real and very me. Little things mean the most to me. I also don’t like shopping with money. You tend find more of what you like rather than what else they have. I love, love, love reading and have read my favorite book series like, 3 times each. No lie. I love vegetarian food… aaand it’s getting kinda frivolous.

So this week was as much fun as it was hectic! I mean, recording at the studio to videos to photo shoots to visiting schools to BOWLING! I couldn’t ask for more, and I didn’t when this really dumb cold came around. :-( Everything was going great and the first thing it attacked was my VOICE. Seriously??? It made it all hoarse and I could hardly talk. I mean, luckily, it was at the end of the week so I can rest, but still, no singer wants a sore throat. So yes, right now I’m sitting at home writing this blog when l could be shopping with my crew. Sadly, I know that I have to rest — mind, body and voice. Oh, and soul. Today is going to be fun though. Dad said he’s making cook-up and we’re going to watch old movies! YAY! It’s nice to be home. Mm-k, PROS NOW! The good thing about all of this is that today, yes, as in right now, it is 10-10-10!

The day when all my websites are officially up and legit. My Facebook fan page has an impressive 550 people and counting. Now, we’re just trying to figure out how to change the name to SkyY and not SkyE, but other than that, it’s going rather well. Then there’s Twitter (http://twitter.com/ashminskyy). From what my “crew” has been telling me it’s increasing… so YAY! And my MySpace is going to be up and running very soon as well as my website! Everything is really amazing and the work and time that goes into it is flabbergasting and after we’re done and over with all this brouhaha we can skip merrily to supercalifragilisticexpialidocious…. (Yeah, let me tell you, I had to google that word to make sure it was right!). Anyway guys, stay tuned for the biggest day of my life 1.11.11 or in other words: Pinkie, middle, index, index middle. (use your fingers!)
